UNF Engineering & Coating Sdn Bhd successfully completed its first CSR initiative, the “Colours of Joy – Community Playground Rejuvenation Programme”, from 28 September to 3 October 2026 in collaboration with the MBSP Landscape Department.

The programme involved repainting and revitalising a community playground in Sungai Dua, Butterworth, creating a brighter, safer and more welcoming space for children and the local community.

UNF Engineering & Coating Sdn Bhd has launched Colours of Joy, a Community Playground Rejuvenation Programme run in support of Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai (MBSP).

Every month our team restores one public playground, professionally preparing and repainting its steel structures with high-quality protective coatings — at no cost to MBSP. One playground every month. Twelve playgrounds a year.

Each site follows the same five steps our specialists apply on industrial projects: inspection to assess the condition of the playground, surface preparation to remove rust and loose paint, priming of exposed areas, repainting with a durable coating, and a final check before the playground is handed back to the community.

The programme enhances public facilities without additional cost to the council, improves safety, appearance and community satisfaction, and encourages public–private partnership for community development. It contributes to five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Partnerships for the Goals.

The same coatings that protect tank farms and bridges can protect a slide and a set of monkey bars. Cleaner, safer, happier playgrounds for our children.

UNF Engineering & Coating Sdn Bhd was recognised at the TOP — Ten Outstanding Penang Youth Business 2026 awards, receiving the Economic Impact award.

Organised by JCI Butterworth City under the theme “The Moment We Celebrate Excellence”, the TOP Awards recognise Penang businesses and young business leaders who contribute to the state’s growth and development. The programme is open to companies registered in Malaysia and to directors and key managers aged between 18 and 40, across categories spanning industrial performance, sustainability, innovation and market expansion.

For UNF the recognition reflects nearly four decades of work that is rarely visible once a project is finished. Protective coatings are applied early, covered over, and then expected to hold for years — on tank farms and pipelines, manufacturing floors, semiconductor facilities and marine assets across Northern Malaysia.

Much of the economic contribution is in what does not happen: corrosion that does not spread, assets that are not replaced early, maintenance budgets that are not spent twice.
